Anaesthesia and intensive care unit

The anaesthesia techniques available are constantly being expanded and refined. In addition to general anaesthesia and classic anaesthesia techniques close to the spinal cord (spinal and peridural anaesthesia), modern ultrasound-guided anaesthesia techniques are available at Zollikerberg Hospital for the targeted anaesthesia of individual areas of the body.

We endeavour to provide you with a calm, empathetic atmosphere. In this way, we can counteract stress and any uncertainties in connection with the upcoming operation.

The anaesthesia consultation

Uncertainties before an operation with a local or general anaesthetic are completely normal. In order to answer your questions and allay any fears you may have, the Operating Theatres and Intensive Care Unit Service Centre runs an anaesthesia consultation. A trained nurse will ask you for the necessary information and pass it on to the anaesthetist. The medical consultation can be optimally prepared on this basis. This means you always know what the next steps are and can ask any questions you may have. Further information on anaesthesia consultations can be found here.
